I don’t like to be cynical but then reality throws a couple of good slaps to the face and you realize you will never escape the sucking vortex of sucktitude generated by 95% of the the population. Working for a state subsidized hospital, I see over-entitled doctors, rude clueless nurses, and grossly inept dumbass managers/directors every day. Takes a lot of the shine out of working for a non-profit. You cannot polish a turd no matter how hard you try. But today I received in the mail a doozy. From the State of Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration - Notice of Tax Adjustment. Not only is Arkansas one of the most overtaxed poorest states I live in but it is also governed by a group of retarded mouth-breathers, the head of which is a former Baptist preacher who writes books on how to live healthy after getting a stomach by-pass operation to lose 100+ lbs.
Anyway so these retards sent me a tax adjustment stating I need to pay them $2,713.02 by July 18, less than a week from now. The reason… back taxes for 2002. Gues when I moved to Arkansas. If you guess March 2003 then you are overqualified to work for the great state of Arkansas. I just wonder how this fuck-up is made and how much uncompensated time I’ll have to spend to fix it.

As much as I try to be a good progressive and think that government can help the exploited and powerless, I equally realize that that government is inherently bureaucratic, inefficient, corrupt, and criminally incompotent. Big business or big government; either way you are fucked.

Sufjan Stevens is coming to Little Rock on 9/12. I don’t see advanced tickets on sale yet but general sale is July 15. If you don’t know Sufjan, congrats on not being an indie music snob and living a normal, healthy life. Actually there seems to be a bit of backlash against Sufjan which in all honesty is probably well deserved. But it’s a decent show in the Rock so how can I pass it up.
