Return of the Douchebags

Feels good to be doing one of these again. You would have thought the d-bags would take a break also but no such luck. So everyone on today’s list is a winner!
First is UAMS, more specifically upper-level management. Seriously I am not sure what sort of lobotomy/extended isolation/psychotic neurosis it takes to become senior level management but I wish it would stop. A few months back an email was sent detailing what was and was not acceptable in… email. How meta! Anyway a few excerpts…

The practice of putting footnote quotes at the bottom of emails must stop. All of us have been the recipient or may even be senders of footnote quotes in emails, please have them removed immediately.

The quotes range for light humor, quotes of famous authors, poets, politicians, etc., and some even have religious themes.

Emphasis added. Seems a certain state employee, Olan A. Nugent, does not care for expressions of faith or religion. Seems he also does not care for emoticons.

On a similar matter, the use of automated icons, dancing smiley faces, etc. wallpaper with leaves, flowers, etc., should also be discontinued. These only add to the length of time to open the mail and in storage costs.

Now what really irks me is that this is probably how it went down. Olan A Nugent gets an email from someone and he does not care for its presentation. Hell, it may have been extremely unprofessional. But being too cowardly to deal with this one employee and defining professionalism to him/her; Olan A Nugent decides to change the ways everyone emails. Here is another interesting tid-bit. UAMS receives state funding. Here is an interesting bit from the Arkansas State Constitution:

The free communication of thoughts and opinions, is one of the invaluable rights of man

Since Mr. Olan A Nugent is a state employee, his salary is public information (will be posted later) and UAMS has a well-known email hierarchy (Last Name + First Name + Middle Initial @ uams.edu). Feel free to write and express your opinion.
One opinion that was shared nationally was that of Michael Feldman on NPR’s What Do You Know?. You can read all the details in the Arkansas Times story and hear the show online [real audio link].
The next part I have to go light on the details to protect my own ass. I am on a project and that project director threw me under the bus stating I did not check my work before I released it. If you know me, you know that is an outright damn lie. After validating my work and finding the mistakes she and others made; does she apologize and STFU? No, she sends an email stating that if I knew my stuff better we could have had the issue resolved sooner. Needless to say, she made it onto my list with that last email.
And the biggee. Let me tell you how much of a pain in the ass physicians are. Imagine your emotionally stunted 16 year old little brother and then add an overdeveloped sense of entitlement and you have a rough idea of what some of these douchebags are like. Now combine that with the middle eastern respect for women [eg none] and you get some grade A assholes. There is one whose name I cannot put up here [for legal and spelling reasons] that decided shoving a woman up against a wall was a good idea. The reason, he did not answer her cell phone quick enough for him. Let me tell you, this guy is at the top of the list.
There you have it, 3 huge douchebags. I was going to post more but this got to be a good-sized rant so I will roll out more later. The backlog of douchebaggery is deep. Congratulation winners! I don’t really believe in Kharma but I do believe in cold sweet vengeance and yours is coming.
